PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS OF THE IOPES SEAMLESS INDOOR-OUTDOOR POSITIONING APPROACH

Abstract. Tracking the members of civil protection or emergency teams is still an open issue. Although outdoors tracking routinely performed using well-seasoned techniques such as GNSS, this same problem must be solved for indoors situations. There exist several approaches indoor positioning, but these are not appropriate staff in real-time: some rely on existing infrastructures; others have been tested light devices real-time; none offers a combined solution. The IOPES project seeks to solve at least alleviate by building portable, unobtrusive, lightweight device combining GNSS outdoor positioning and visual-inertial odometry / SLAM case. This work, third series, presents analysis performance results obtained after developing testing first prototype. To do it, operational aspects prototype, real-life scenarios where tests took place actual thus described.
